For keen cyclists, we have prepared a one week cycling holiday in the Tarn, all trips starting and ending in our eco-friendly guest house in Castelnau-de-Montmiral. It is nearly unbelievable, how differentiated the scenery is across rolling countryside with vineyards, forests, open fields and meadows. The 6 trips we prepared will allow you to visit the city Albi, the bastides albigeoises - fortified towns and villages from the Cathar epoch – the Gaillac vineyard, the Aveyron Canyon, the Quercy plateau and the Gresigne Forest.
No worry, we have thought at everything, or at least almost everything. Your cycling holiday is home-based, you will stay in one place only, B&B Artichaud, so there is no need to be concerned about cycling to the next inn. Our rooms are spacious, and the beds comfortable. The day starts with a good breakfast, so you can take in the calories you will spend during the bicycle tour. We tell you where you can buy lunch, or you can ask us to prepare a pick-nick for you. After your tour, you can relax in the garden or in the swimming pool. For dinner, you will be delighted with our gourmet cuisine, accompanied by the finest Gaillac wines. Of course, we use only organic food products: Artichaud is an eco-friendly guest-house. Two evenings a week the kitchen takes a break, but we might recommend you a restaurant nearby in the village.
You will cycle at your own pace, independent and self-guided thanks to our information pack: a road book (in English), and a detailed map 1/100.000; cyclists equipped with GPS can download the tracks. The country roads we selected are quiet, the hills are soft. Every day trip is about 50 – 60 km long; they start and end always at our home. The biking trips are easy-going: we designed them in such a way that every cyclist of average fitness and little training should be able to travel them. And in case a guest has not yet reached the fitness level he or she hoped for, we have foreseen short-cuts for every trip. Be sure to have a comfortable bicycle; rent a bike is possible in the nearby city of Gaillac.
