For the renovation of the farmhouse, we opted for environment-friendly techniques and materials: oak from sustainable woods, ecological paints etc... Our house is quite well-insulated: in summer, temperature inside is 5 to 8 degrees lower than outside, so we don't need air conditioning. Hot water is produced by a solar boiler. The used water is filtered by a sand filter, and we collect rainwater for swimming pool and garden in a 15000 l tank.
We planted local varieties of trees and shrubbery, more adapted to the climate and less water-greedy. Our vegetable garden is 100 % organic; we apply only traditional methods and natural products. Breakfast and dinner consist of fresh and home-made products, mostly from our vegetable garden or organic farms nearby.
We use environment-friendly cleaning products. In short: we try to respect the life-cycle of everything by reducing, re-use and recycling, without giving in on our comfort or that of our guests.
