Castelnau-de-Montmiral, a medieval fortified bastide town in the Pays des Bastides Albigeoises, is located in south-west France, in the département Tarn. It is one of the most beautiful bastide towns in France and a good starting point for visiting the region. The landscape combines vineyards, corn and sunflower fields on soft-sloping hills. The region offers many opportunities for walking or cycling on peaceful country roads, through forests and along the cliffs of the Aveyron canyon (gorges de l'Aveyron) or the more peaceful Tarn river.
Our eco-friendly bed & breakfast is located right on the circuit des bastides, a route connecting many picturesque medieval towns and traditional villages. Beautiful squares surrounded by ancient archways, remarkable churches and abbeys, and interesting museums allow you to discover the rich history of the region. Visits of the nearby towns of Albi, Gaillac, Cordes easily deserve a full day each, not only for their cultural heritage: strolling along the medieval streets, tasting the Gaillac wine or the south-west cuisine, shopping or visiting the markets, are as many ways of discovering and enjoying the region.
